FerventWord Documentation

The documentation for the FerventWord iOS app. These pages are generated from the documentation inside the app, so they always describe the version you are running.

Reading

  • How FerventWord Works

God has something for you from His Word each day. Let FerventWord App help you read, study and stay consistent in the Scriptures without applying the burden of guilt or completionism.

  • Reading Plans

A reading plan assigns a passage to each day. FerventWord App carries the plans published on ferventword.com, and you can build your own.

  • Finding Passages

Every book of the Bible is two taps away, you can hold three places at once, and everywhere you have been is one list.

  • Searching The Bible

Search finds a verse by the words in it, across the versions you choose, without a connection and without recording what you looked for.

  • The Bible Guide

An outline, a key verse, who wrote it and when, and where the New Testament quotes it — for every chapter of the Bible, already on your phone.

  • Offline Reading

Everything you read and everything you write is on your device. Apart from syncing your own work to your own iCloud, FerventWord App contacts a server only when you ask it to.

  • Reminders

    A nudge toward today's reading.

  • Widgets, Siri And Spotlight

FerventWord App puts today's reading on your Home Screen, answers questions from Siri, and lets iOS search find a book, a topic or a plan.

What You Make

  • Notebooks

A notebook is a named set your highlights go into, and choosing one changes what a passage shows you — so it is a way of reading rather than just a label.

  • Marking Passages

Select words to copy them, color them, or write a note against them — and decide how much of that you want to see while you read.

  • Meditations

A meditation is a passage you set aside to dwell on. You make one from the words in front of you while you are reading, and FerventWord App keeps it.

  • Your Data

What FerventWord App stores, where it keeps it, and the four things that ever leave your device.

  • Sharing A Plan

A reading plan you have made can be given a short code, so a friend, a class or a whole congregation can follow the same plan.

Settings

  • Using Versions

Four versions and an audio edition came with the app. Read in any of them, hold one passage in several at once, and nothing needs downloading.

  • How The Page Looks

How Scripture is set on the page — the layout, the red letter, the size of the type — and a sample that shows you before you leave the screen.

  • Accessibility

FerventWord App is built to be read.
