How FerventWord Works

God has something for you from His Word each day. Let FerventWord App help you read, study and stay consistent in the Scriptures without applying the burden of guilt or completionism.

Where To Start

Menu → Get Started lists what is set up and what you can do. It is the screen the app opens with the first time, and it is there whenever you want it again.

The Menu

Every screen has a menu button in the top left. It opens everything the app can do.

Your reading:

  • Today's Reading shows the passage your plans hold for today.
  • Open The Bible opens the Bible in whichever versions you have.
  • Search finds a verse by the words in it.
  • Recent Passages keeps where you have been, so you can go back.
  • Your Highlights & Notes is everything you have highlighted, one notebook at a time.
  • Your Meditations holds the passages you have set aside to dwell on, shared with Prayer Mentions.
  • Reading Plan Setup is where you choose a plan, build your own, or change one you already follow.
  • Enter A Plan Code is for a plan someone shared with you.
  • Reminders is when a passage reaches your lock screen.

Beneath those: Settings, Get Started, Documentation, and Feedback & Support. Then, under About: About FerventWord App, Versions & Copyrights, Prayer Mentions, and Support The Ministry.

Documentation holds these pages. Feedback & Support is the way to reach a person: it writes to [email protected] and can attach a report describing how the app is behaving.

Where The App Opens

FerventWord App opens on Today's Reading. If you would rather come back to where you were, choose Most Recent Passage at Settings → General → Open. A reminder, a link or the widget takes you where it points either way.

If you are following no plan at all, the app opens the Bible instead — there is nothing for Today's Reading to show.

Why Today's Reading Is Today's

Your plan's day comes from the calendar. You chose the plan and when it started; the day moves on from there on its own. If a day goes by, today's reading is today's reading — nothing rolls forward and nothing is owed.

What The App Does Not Know

The app knows which passage it put in front of you. It does not know what you read — not the chapter you read from a paper Bible, not the passage you sat with for an hour without scrolling.

So there is nothing here that could keep score, and nothing that tries. No streaks, no percentages, and no list of days you missed.
