What A Meditation Is

A verse, a sentence, or a phrase to carry into your prayers. One line is plenty.

You can write one from the Today tab or the Meditations tab, and share text into the app from Messages, Safari, or a Bible app without opening it. Everything you write is kept.

How Long Yours Stays Put

Set this under Settings → Meditation.

Revisit At Random
Each day brings back one past meditation, chosen at random. Writing a new meditation still takes over for that day.
Revisit In Order
Each day brings back one past meditation, working through your history so you see every one before any repeats. Writing a new meditation still takes over for that day.
Keep Until Replaced
Your meditation stays in place until you replace it. Meditation notifications, if enabled, use the same text every day.
Reset Each Day
Your meditation clears at midnight so you can write a fresh one each day. Past meditations are still kept in History.

Revisit At Random is the default, so there's something to carry into your prayers from the first day, whether or not you've written anything yet.

Revisiting What You've Written

The two revisit modes bring back one meditation a day, so a growing history stops being an archive nobody returns to. In order works through everything before anything repeats; at random draws freely.

Writing a new meditation still takes over for that day, whenever you feel like it.

Meditations Included With The App

A set of meditations comes with the app, under Included on the Meditations tab, beside your own under Personal. They sit alongside the ones you write: they join the rotation, they can show on the Today tab and the widget, and they can be used in your meditation reminders.

You can't edit, archive, or delete one, because it isn't yours — but swiping and choosing Make Current copies it into your own meditations, where you can do all three.

More arrive with app updates. If you'd rather have only your own writing, one switch under Settings → Meditations turns the whole collection off, everywhere at once.

Make Current

Swiping a past meditation and choosing Make Current moves it to today — it becomes the one on the Today tab, in the widget, and in your meditation reminders.

It moves the entry rather than copying it, so you don't end up with two of the same text. If it was archived, it comes back out of the archive, and in the revisit modes it goes to the end of the rotation so it isn't the next one you see again.

On an included meditation it copies instead, since that one isn't yours to move. You end up with one copy, in your own meditations, and it leaves the Included list.

Archive And Delete

Archiving keeps a meditation without bringing it back around: it leaves the revisit pool and stops being offered.

Worth knowing: if the one you archive happens to be your current meditation, the app moves on to the most recent one that's left — so the widget can change straight away. Restoring it from the Archived filter puts it back in the pool.

Delete is separate and permanent, and always asks first.

The Widget

The home-screen widget shows your current meditation and keeps itself up to date — it can even turn over to the next day's revisit on its own, without the app being opened.
