Two Kinds Of Reminder

Prayer Reminders
The people on today's list, and any prayer requests active today.
Meditation Reminders
Your current meditation, sent back to you during the day. You choose how many, from one to ten.

They're separate switches under Settings → Notifications, and either can be on without the other.

When They Arrive

One Time Per Day
A single notification at a time you pick, listing everyone on today's list together.
Random Times
A separate notification for each person and each active request, scattered through a window you set.

Meditation reminders always use the window, even when prayer reminders are set to one time a day. That's why the window stays visible in both modes.

What A Reminder Says

A prayer reminder names who it's for and nothing else:

Mention Jane Doe in prayer today

When several people share one notification, it names a couple and says "and others" — never a count, and never a list of who's left.

A prayer request reads as its own words. If you've linked it to a person, their name leads.

There are no buttons on a reminder, no badge on the app icon, and no number anywhere. A reminder is an invitation, not a task with a state.

Reminders Are Scheduled About Three Days Ahead

iOS holds a limited number of pending notifications for any app, so Prayer Mentions keeps roughly the next three days scheduled and tops that up each time you open it.

If the app goes unopened for several days, reminders quietly run out until you open it again — at which point the next few days are laid out afresh. Nothing is lost, and nothing needs repairing.

You can see exactly what is scheduled under Help & Support → Scheduled Notifications.

When iOS Can't Take Them All

iOS limits how many reminders any app can have waiting at once. A long list with several reminders a day can reach that limit, and when it does the app schedules fewer days ahead rather than letting iOS silently drop the extras.

If that's happening, Help & Support says so plainly. Archiving prayer requests that are finished frees up room — they keep their place in History and can be restored whenever you like.

Opening A Reminder

Tapping a reminder about a person opens that person, with their notes and your meditation. Tapping a prayer request opens the request. A meditation reminder opens the Today tab.

If the person has a phone number, their page offers a message you can send to let them know they were on your mind.
