How A Day Gets Built
Two separate things land on your Today list. Your schedule decides which people come forward, and prayer requests arrive on their own timing, independent of the schedule.
Anyone marked to appear every day is added on top of whatever the schedule chose, every day.
The Six Schedules
You can change this any time under Settings → People Schedule. Switching doesn't lose anything — it only changes who comes forward tomorrow.
- Monthly Coverage
- Every person gets scheduled once a month, spread evenly
- Daily Rotation
- You pick how many people a day; everyone gets a turn in a fixed order
- Daily Random
- You pick how many people a day; whoever has waited longest comes up first, with chance breaking ties
- Monthly Letter Calendar
- People are grouped by the first letter of their name, one letter per day
- Weekly Letter Schedule
- People are grouped by the first letter of their name, a few letters each day
- Everyone Every Day
- Your whole list, every single day
- No longer offered to new users — it sends a reminder for everyone on your list every day, which quickly exceeds what iOS will deliver. It stays available if you're already using it.
Monthly Coverage, The Default
New installs start on Monthly Coverage, which spreads your whole list across the days of the month so everyone comes up once. With fewer people than days it leaves gaps rather than doubling anyone up, so on a short list plenty of days will say nobody is scheduled. That's the schedule working, not a problem.
If someone would have been pushed past their day, the app quietly brings them back the next day on its own.
The Letter Schedules
Two of the six group people by the first letter of their name. You can read the full tables here without changing your schedule.
Days 27–31
The alphabet runs out on day 26, so the Monthly Letter Calendar has no letter for days 27 through 31. You can leave those days for prayer requests only, or have the app pick a few people instead — the choice is under Settings → People Schedule.
Why The Same People Seem To Come Up
If a few names appear far more than others, it is almost always prayer requests rather than the schedule.
A prayer request set to Daily with no end date reminds you every day for as long as it exists — roughly 365 times a year. Someone who comes up only through Monthly Coverage appears about 12 times in the same year. One open-ended daily request is enough to make a list look lopsided.
Nothing is wrong when that happens, and a long-running request is often exactly the one you meant to keep. If you'd like more room, archiving requests that are finished is the gentlest way to get it — they stay in History and can come back at any time.
The schedule itself doesn't play favorites. It picks whoever has waited longest, and uses chance only to break a tie.
